API Terms of Service

Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Rapidskins API ("API"). By accessing or using our API, you agree to be bound by these Terms. These terms build on top of our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

Multi-Accounting

One API Key Per Person

• Rapidskins allows only one API key per person. Using multiple accounts or API keys is prohibited.
• Detection of multi-accounting will result in warnings and potential account restrictions.

Verification

• Rapidskins may require identity verification to ensure compliance with the one-account-per-person policy.
• Refusal to comply with verification requests may result in API key revocation.

Shared Resources

• Using shared IP addresses, devices, or payment methods may trigger a multi-account investigation.
• Users in shared environments (e.g., universities, internet cafes) should contact Rapidskins for guidance.

Additional Multi-Accounting Restrictions

• Allowing others to use your API key or account is strictly prohibited.
• Creating new accounts after restriction or suspension of a previous account is prohibited.
• Attempts to obscure identity through VPNs or proxies specifically to circumvent these terms will result in immediate restriction.

Ratelimiting & API Usage Limits

Endpoint Limitations

• Spamming user inventory loading endpoints is prohibited.
• Users consistently hitting ratelimits built into the API may have their API key restricted.
• All API requests must be made with reasonable intervals between them.

Price Confidentiality

• Publishing or sharing Rapidskins' selling prices (the prices paid for users' items) is strictly prohibited.
• Scraping or systematically collecting pricing data for distribution is prohibited.

Technical Requirements

• All API requests must include proper authentication and follow the documented format.
• Bulk operations should be performed using the appropriate bulk endpoints rather than multiple single-item calls.

Additional API Usage Restrictions

• Reverse engineering the API beyond what is necessary for legitimate use is prohibited.
• Developing or using tools designed to circumvent API limitations is prohibited.
• Sharing API keys or access credentials with third parties is prohibited.
• Testing or scanning for vulnerabilities without express written permission is prohibited.

Allowed and Prohibited Use Cases

Explicitly Allowed Use Cases

The following use cases are explicitly permitted:

• Mass Buying: Including "arbitrage" buying where users purchase from Rapidskins to sell elsewhere for profit.
• Mass Selling: Including arbitrage of items that do not violate the selling terms outlined above.
• Ghost-Provider Services: Using Rapidskins as a backend provider for another service/business, allowing users of that service to buy and sell via Rapidskins. Users must submit specific information about their business for approval before implementing this use case.

Explicitly Prohibited Use Cases

The following use cases are explicitly prohibited:

• Gambling Integration: Selling to or buying from gambling businesses or integrating with gambling services.
• Fraudulent Operations: Using the API to facilitate scams, fraud, or other deceptive practices.
• Unauthorized Reselling of API Access: Providing direct API access to third parties without explicit permission.
• Data Mining: Using the API primarily to collect data rather than to facilitate legitimate trades.
• Competitive Intelligence: Using the API to systematically gather information for competitive analysis without permission.

Unlisted Use Cases

For any use case not explicitly listed as allowed or prohibited, users must seek approval from Rapidskins before implementation. Contact [email protected] with a detailed description of your intended use case.

Enforcement and Penalties

Monitoring

Rapidskins continuously monitors API usage patterns and trading activities to ensure compliance with these Terms.

Warnings

Minor or first-time violations may result in warnings. However, Rapidskins reserves the right to take immediate action without warning for serious violations.

Penalties

Violations of these Terms may result in:

• Temporary or permanent revocation of API access
• Account restrictions
• Forfeiture of funds in the account
• Restriction from future use of Rapidskins services

Appeals

Users who believe a penalty has been applied in error may appeal by contacting [email protected] with relevant information and evidence.

Modifications to Terms

Rapidskins reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the API following such changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
